Flutist Elizabeth Robinson’s debut album, Aviary, explores the familiar sounds of nature through a series of newly commissioned works for flute, piccolo, and flute quartet. This can include the flute as a bird, but with a twist: chickens, penguins, and other avian oddities, but also a foray into the supernatural. The inspiration for Aviary was whimsy - a fun, sometimes silly, sometimes joyful exploration of the natural world - with the flute as a medium.

The flute family is celebrated in Aviary’s seven compositions by American composers Lisa Bost-Sandberg, Nicole Chamberlain, Gay Kahkonen, Anne McKennon, and Kimberly R. Osberg.
